Depressed by divorce,doctor commits suicide

A 35-year-old doctor committed suicide by hanging himself from the ceiling fan of his first-floor residence in Vashi Naka area of Chembur on Tuesday. The body of Suresh Kothari was found by his family when they returned home in the evening. Police have learnt that Kothari was suffering from depression since his divorce around a month ago.

The incident took place on Tuesday evening when Kotharis family had gone out to shop for his sisters wedding in May. Kothari was alone at home. The family had asked him to accompany them but he refused, a police officer said.

The matter came to light when Kotharis parents and his younger sister returned around 7.15 pm and he did not respond to repeated knocks on the door.
