NEW DELHI: A Sessions court has ordered a probe against three police officials,including an Additional Commissioner of Police,for wrongly filing a closure report in a case where an 82-year-old NRI had been cheated. The court noted that the closure report in the case had been filed in a court other than the one in which it had been lodged,and the complainant was not even notified about it. The three police officials against whom the vigilance probe was ordered included Paharganj ACP Raja Ram Yadav,Desh Bandhu Gupta Road police SHO Inspector Jagbir Singh and Sub Inspector-cum-IO Prakash Roy,who was investigating the case.

Man checks into 5-star hotel,attempts suicide

NEW DELHI: A 47-year-old property dealer allegedly attempted suicide at a five-star hotel in Central Delhi on Wednesday. The resident of Karol Bagh was reportedly suffering from depression as he was unable to pay off his debts because of which he tried to end his life,police said. He checked into a room at the hotel and allegedly consumed alcohol laced with poison.

Man arrested for killing daughter-in-law

New Delhi: Police on Wednesday arrested a 55-year-old man for allegedly murdering his daughter-in-law in South Delhi’s Neb Sarai area earlier this week. A bloodstained knife and shirt were recovered. The accused,identified as Arshad Ali alias Nathu,had allegedly killed 25-year-old Sabina after she spurned his advances,police said. He was arrested from Hauz Rani area.
