On Sunday, when the city recorded 0.2 mm rainfall, Lohegaon station received 23 mm rainfall. Hill station Mahableshwar received 59 mm of rainfall.
The rainfall for Pune continues to be rain and thundershowers. The present rainfall climate is due to a cyclonic circulation over Telengana. The circulation is over 0.9 km in width and is responsible for thunderstorm activity over the state, said an IMD official.
Weather department officials added that while Pune city received more than average rainfall, however this has not reflected in the reservoir level.
"Pune has already crossed the season's normal rainfall. However, it has not rained in catchments areas, which is why it has not reflected in the reservoir levels," said Medha Khole, Director, Weather, IMD. Pune has till now recorded 647.1 mm rainfall, while the normal is 455.7 mm rainfall.
Meanwhile, it is now also clear that the withdrawal of the southwest monson has been delayed - it normally begins by September 1 in Rajasthan.
At present, there is no low-pressure framework anywhere in the country.
The rainfall pattern has been erratic this season. After a delayed start, it rained well for three weeks in July, followed by a lull till mid August. "These are parts of monsoon variants," Khole said.
