City’s Koparkar upsets top seed in state TT ranking event

Earlier,in the semifinals,he had emerged victorious over fellow Pune paddler Martand Biniwale,who pulled off an upset win over sixth seed Noel Pinto to reach the last four.

Biniwale did not go trophyless,however,beating Pinto yet again in the Youth Boys’ final.

He secured an 11-6,11-4,6-11,11-8,11-7 victory over his opponent to be crowned champion.

In the women’s draw,fourth seed Ashlesha Bodas reached the semifinals with a hard fought seven-set win over Thane’s Vedika Garg,but came up short against top-seed Pooja Sahasrabudhe,losing in five sets.

Sahasrabudhe went on to win the title,beating Mumbai’s Shweta Parte in the final,said the release issued on Friday.
