Civic body to prefer BOT projects

Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation Mayor Yogesh Behl on Saturday said that the civic body would give priority to promoting projects on built-operate-and-transfer basis.

Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) Mayor Yogesh Behl on Saturday said that the civic body would give priority to promoting projects on built-operate-and-transfer (BOT) basis. He was speaking at the inaugural function of the refurbished subway from Big Bazaar to Mega Mart at Chinchwad station.

The PCMC has handed over the subway to a private contractor on BOT basis.

Many commercial establishments and offices are located near Chinchwad Station. PCMC had decided to build a subway at Chinchwad Station after the road-widening work was completed last year to facilitate smooth traffic flow.

PCMC officials said the subway was built at a cost of Rs 1 crore. He said the subway contractor would get the advertisements rights to recover his money on maintenance.

The contractor would also appoint two guards at the subway. Two complaint boxes would also be set up at the subway. Behl also said that the civic body is planning to build another subway at Vallabhnagar on BOT basis.
