Civil rights activist Binayak Sen gets bail, thanks supporters

    Binayak Sen was awarded bail by Supreme Court after being in jail for two years.

    However, the state Government has been maintaining so far that it was for the court to take a decision about his release.

    State PUCL president Rajendra Sail welcomed the apex court move, saying "he should have got bail two years ago". "There is a sense of relief among Sen's supporters and all those who have expressed solidarity. Our stand has been vindicated," he added.

Let us hope the state courts show the same integrity as the apex court. There are some who need to believe that the police only arrest the guilty. These individuals should pray that they and their loved ones are never in the wrong place at the wrong time. Those who have nothing to hide need not be afraid of the media.

Denial of bail should be an exception rather than rule and High Courts should ensure that it is not denied in minor offences. Every one cannot come to the apex court.

He is the sympathiser of Maos and helping them to kill thosands of innocent people. human rights is just a cover. What about human rights for those who were killed by Maos? Where are the Human right activists then? In this case law is an ass. Full stop.

Naxalites are murderers. They destroy public and private property in the name of 'social justice' and work with these false protectors of human rights to ensure that they get away scot-free everytime. Binayak Sen was put in prison for a reason and he is as responsible for murder and mayhem as the Naxal terrorists who actually pulled the trigger by providing his range of support services.So let's not lose perspective here -- obviously the SC came under pressure from the civil rights gang, the so-called intelligentia from Indian society who spend their mornings at morchas and evenings at clubhouses. When you say 'Justice is done for Binayak Sen', think of the thousands of innocents killed by his cohorts.

It has been painful for many Indians to know that he was languishing in prison despite every effort, world-wide, to make the state recognize the folly and injustice of imprisoning so blameless a person. He had the courage to speak out against a patently wrong policy, a policy which will bring us to the same sad pass as some of our neighbours, fighting the very people they helped arm. The Indian state urgently needs to re-think grassroots policy initiatives.
