  • One person was killed late on Thursday night when a clash broke out between two groups of people over sharing potable water from a panchayat tubewell in Jajanpur village on the Kaithal-Kurukshetra road.

According to police, Karan Singh, 38, was hacked to death by some persons after a long-standing dispute over sharing water from the tubewell turned ugly. He was allegedly attacked with sharp-edged weapons.

The police said a case of murder has been registered against nine persons at the Dhand police station.

Tension gripped the village after the incident and police personnel were deployed to avoid the situation getting worse. Sources said both the groups belonged to the Balmiki community.
