Yet another suicide incident was reported from Daund in Pune district on Tuesday. Eighteen-year-old Vikram Ramesh Salunke,a Class XII science student from Daund,ended his life by hanging himself to the ceiling fan at his residence on Monday,police said,adding that no suicide note was found from the spot.
Police suspect that he committed suicide due to pressure related to studies. A case of accidental death has been registered at the Daund police station. Police said Vikram,a resident of Bhavani Nagar,Gopalwadi in Daund taluka,was a student of of Sheth Jyoti Prasad Vidyalaya in Daund. He is suspected to have hanged himself at his residence between 11 am and 12 noon. His uncle Suresh was the first one who saw Vikram hanging from the ceiling fan. Suresh brought Vikram down and rushed him to the hospital where he was declared dead on arrival. Meanwhile,Suresh also informed his parents and reported the incident to the Daund police station around 2.30 pm.
Vikram is survived by parents and a sister. His father is a wireless operator at Kurudwadi police station and was on duty when the incident came to light. His mother and sister had also gone out of the house when Vikram hanged himself. Family members told the police that Vikram was good in studies. But as there were no other reason,police said they suspect Vikram might have taken the extreme step due to the pressure of studying for Class XII exams. Investigation is under way to confirm the exact cause of his death,said assistant sub-inspector R S Mane,who is investigating the case.
On January 9,23-year-old Sagar Subhash Pimpalkar of Mrunal Vihar in Nigdi,who was studying for Chartered Accountants (CA) examination,hanged himself at his residence.
