The Classic 500 re-classifies the Royal Enfield motorcyle, from a rugged beast of a machine to a more classy, uber cool magnificent piece of machinery

It’s one heck of a headturner, and everytime you spot one roaring down the road, slicing through the traffic,it gets an instant standing ovation and a thunderous applause. Such is the power the Royal Enfield wields and the enormous respect it commands. And this Friday morning, the ‘sexy beast’ of a machinery made a comeback, one that boasts of more power, efficiency and style reviving the romance of post-war motorcycling. With a bold appearance and cutting edge technology, the all-new and ‘perfected’ Classic 500 and Classic 350 truly are magnificent pieces of machinery.

“Five years ago,we set ourselves the task styling the Royal Enfield Classic, and the major challenge was in infusing the romance of the 1950s and Royal Enfield’s British character with the latest engine technologies. The all-new Classic 500 has an open out design philosophy this can be attributed to the inspirational ‘Clipper 250’,a popular Royal Enfield of yesteryears,” comments R L Ravichandran,CEO,Royal Enfield.

One look, and you can’t take your eyes off the bike that stands for ‘leisure motorcycling for over a hundred years’. “It was the demand of our customers for a new look, and we along with Classic 500,introduced the Classic 350,” says Shaji Koshy,Head-Sales and Marketing,Royal Enfield adding how the Classics are imbued with ‘Selfism’ because the “relationship between the

individual and his machine is a personal, spiritual one.’

Available at all dealerships and brand stores across India, the Royal Enfield Classic has a 500 cc unit construction engine, electronic fuel injection technology and quick start ingnition. It offers combustion and transmission efficiency, friction reduction, higher torque, more power and comfortable cruising. With authentic vintage styling, the Classics have a stunning one tone colour scheme. A lot of emphasis has also gone into the styling in order to lend a superior chiselled look and character, especially the single-saddle spring seat with double stitching on the seat, oval toolbox, tail light assembly and die-cast headlight casing. The green tones, vintage graphics, typography on the console and handpainted pinstripes are detailed to make the Classic’s post war appeal convincing and dynamic.

“While other bike players are shifting gears towards mainstream our appeal is towards leisure, relaxation and travel. As of now,we have no plans to open other segments or capacity,” informs Shaji giving more info on the famous Riders Mania – an annual gathering of Royal Enfield owners from all over the country from November 17 to 29 in Goa,the Himalayan Odyssey, and the very recent,‘Tour of Rajasthan’,a ten-day biking trip. The prices for Classic 500 are Rs 1,24,918 while Classic 350 comes for Rs 98,028 (ex-showroom).
