  • Following government clearance, the Indian Institute of Management, Bangalore, on Friday evening put out a list of 330 candidates selected against the 240 seats available for the 2007-09 postgraduate programme.

The 240 seats available for the current year is as per the intake formula adopted last year prior to the attempt by the government to introduce an OBC quota. The 240 seats include 36 seats in the SC category, 18 seats in the ST category and seven seats in the people with disabilities category. “The 90 excess offers are to cover overlapping offers made to some candidates by other IIMs,” IIM-B said on its website.

The IIMs in Ahmedabad and Indore also came out with their admission lists for general and SC/ST students today. IIM-A received the communication from the HRD ministry this afternoon, giving it the go-ahead to start the admission process.

Against 250 seats available, a total of 239 offers were being made to candidates belonging to general, SC, ST and disabled categories, institute sources said.

In addition to 239 firm offers, another 52 candidates have been put on the waiting list. The waitlisted candidates would be offered admission strictly according to rank in case the candidates who had been made firm offers declined them, sources added.

Depending on future directives of the HRD ministry with regard to implementation of OBC reservation, IIM-A will offer admission for up to 30 additional seats, if required, at a later date, sources in the institute added.

The IIM Indore offered admission letters to 180 candidates for its two-year postgraduate MBA course, including students belonging to SC/ST and physically handicapped categories.
