It seems tech-savvy Chandigarh Administration believes in only updating the posting of its personnel on its official website but when it comes to projects,there is no differentiation between new,old and scrapped ones. Months after some of the controversial mega projects had been scrapped,they still figure prominently on its website under New Intiatives with links giving project details.

From Amusement-cum-Theme Park to Filmcity and Medicity,the website continues to provide details of these non-existent projects.

It goes a step further to invite people to contact director,information technology,if they want to get further details about these scrapped projects. Also,it claims that it will be providing facilities like road connectivity,public transport,adequate parking and boundary walls for the people coming up with their units at Filmcity,Theme Park and Medicity. Besides the scrapped projects,other initiatives that have remained on paper also make it to the website.

These include Modern Terminal Market; a state-level Energy Park,which was to be set up in Botanical Garden,Sarangpur village under the solar power initiative; and an Integrated Milk Production village,under which Maloya was to be converted into an integrated milk production village.

I am not aware of any such link still existing. Once the projects have been scrapped,the link should have been removed. I shall get it checked, a senior UT official said.

No Updates

* The Chandigarh Traffic Polices website has not been updated for months. The statistics of accidents in the city have not been updated after January 2009,while the list of habitual offenders in the city has not been updated after October 2010. The situation is same on the accident cases registered in the city. Till a few years ago,the Chandigarh Traffic Polices website was considered one of the most comprehensive official websites of the departments covered under Chandigarh Administration.

* The municipal corporations website has also not been updated for months now. It is till carrying links for recruitments,for which interviews shall be held on January 13,2011,besides various other recruitments,the dates for which have already passed long back.
