With poll schedules expected to be announced in a week, hectic activity in the political parties is generating enough heat to elevate the mood to a feverish pitch. After warming up with road shows and yatras, political leaders and film stars are hitting the campaign trail already.

Chief Minister Dr Y S Rajasekhara Reddy on Thursday kicked off a chopper yatra to officially inaugurate, commission or lay foundation stones of more than a dozen government projects. In the next four days, the CM will hop through 10 districts which is expected to be his last official tour before election schedules are announced and the Election Commission's model code conduct comes into force. Former Indian cricket captain Mohammed Azharuddin who is expected to join Congress on Thursday at New Delhi has caused considerable excitement in the Congress camp and he will seen very soon testing political waters.

"A number of sitting MLAs are doing the rounds of Congress office because many are aware that they might be axed this time. Hectic parleys, meetings and consultations are going on at the Gandhi Bhavan. Election schedules and CM's tour is also being planned,'' says APCC spokesperson Venkatashwara Paladugu.

After attacking the Andhra Chief Minister in New Delhi and seeking a probe against him, the Telugu Desam Party has chalked out a grueling state-wide tour for its star campaigner, popular film star N Balakrishna who will be later joined by TDP chief N Chandrababu Naidu. Balakrishna has already kicked off his tour and is currently addressing massive public meetings in Rayalaseema region including Anantapur, Kurnool and Mahbubnagar districts. Grandson of N T Rama Rao, Junior NTR, who is also an actor will be touring north Coastal Andhra districts later this month. The TDP-led 'grand alliance' is busy holding meetings with its partners - CPI, CPM and TRS - to discuss seat-sharings and campaign schedules

YSR and his workBy: R Sundar | 19-Feb-2009 Reply | Forward If there is one man who can turn the tide in favour of the Congress in Andhra it is YSR alone just because his record in governance just speaks for itself. His regime will always be remembered for its added thrust to improve the rural infrastructure by speeding up irrigation projects which have been welcomed with folded hands by the farming community. Given a choice between YSR and Naidu, I think the AP electorate more especially the farmers will always chose the former in terms of comparison. Although it would be nightmarish to predict the winner today in a three cornered contest, yet YSR is all set to win a second term in Office and his image as a do-gooder will help the Congress score a respectable tally in Lok Sabha too in AP.
YSR WILL DO IT FOR CONGRESSBy: R Sundar | 19-Feb-2009 Reply | Forward If there is one man who can turn the tide for Congress in Andhra Pradesh, it is YSR alone. His nearly five year stint as a Chief Minister saw added thrust to rural infrastructure especially irrigation projects. Go to any rural area in AP and people will just sing paegns about his Government's work. This is in stark contrast to the earlier Naidu regime which was seen more as a Metropolitan centric and anti-rural. Despite the so-called anti-incumbency factor, I think nothing is going to stop YSR from securing a second term in Office as CM. As far as the Lok Sabha is concerned, as compared to the previous elections, the Congress might lose a few seats, but will still get a majority of them.
It is advantage BJP in APBy: Biswanath | 19-Feb-2009 Reply | Forward AP will throw up the surprise of the surprises in the Lok Sabha elections. Not only that there will be a hung assembly in the State but BJP may surprise every one by winning 8-10 seats comapred to 12-15 for Congress and GA and 3-5 for PRP.
JOKE OF THE MILLENNIUMBy: R Sundar | 19-Feb-2009 Reply | Forward I have heard many jokes in the past, but nothing can beat this.
Like Karnataka BJP will suceed in AP soon..By: Sundaran | 19-Feb-2009 Reply | Forward Neighbouring Karnataka has already answered your joke! BJP was nowhere in Karnataka when Congree-JD were main contenders for power. Even communists had more following! Anyway with massive organized to christinity, YSR/Congress can be assured of 10% votes (officially lower but due to reservation benifits fraud. Communists fooling Cheeru using their plant as his political advisor..If he aligns with BJP he will smash both Congress and TDP.

Soon it will be jolt of the millenniumBy: Biswanath | 19-Feb-2009 Reply | Forward At the moment it may seem to be a nice joke but post May 2009 you are in for a jolt of the millennium.
LET US SEEBy: R Sundar | 20-Feb-2009 Reply | Forward Let us see who is jolted after May 2009. Remember the India shining fiasco before being so much over confident.
history repeatBy: Ganesh | 21-Feb-2009 Reply | Forward Looking at confidence of the anti national congress and its cronies i am afraid we are going to see history repeat as it did with NDA.Now they realise that India was indeed shining then.
NOT NECESSARY THAT HISTORY SHOULD REPEATBy: K Sundar | 23-Feb-2009 Reply | Forward Even assuming that the UPA does badly, I do not think the BJP can come to power even then and it will in probability a third front Government
