CM playing communal card, says Vaghela

State Congress Election Campaign Committee chairman Shankersinh Vaghela on Monday accused Chief Minister Narendra Modi of wanting to "play a communal card" by describing Ahmed Patel as a Congress aspirant for chief ministership of Gujarat and referring to him as Ahmed "Mian" Patel.

Addressing mediapersons, Vaghela said everyone knew on what issues the BJP fought elections in 2002 and 2007 and that it was certainly not the development. "In 2012, they did not have any issue to polarise the society on communal lines. But he is trying to repeat 2002 and 2007 by describing Ahmed Patel as Ahmed 'Mian' Patel," Vaghela said.

"It does not behove a CM to speak such things," he said. "Will Ahmed Patel, political secretary to Sonia Gandhi, aspire for chief ministership of Gujarat when he decides chief ministers of several states," the Congress leader asked, adding "this is a product of a perverted mind... Modi has crossed all limits of decency."
