  • Chief Minister Buddhadeb Bhattacharjee today promised help to Bengal cricketer Avik Chowdhury for advanced treatment of his injuries suffered in a car accident last month.

“We sought help from the chief minister who had earlier visited Avik at the hospital after his accident and he has promised us help,” the parents of the cricketer said after meeting officials at the CM’s secretariat.

Avik’s parents said their son needed to be taken to the National Spinal Injury Rehabilitation Centre in Delhi for advanced treatment which would cost about Rs 10 lakh.

The promising Bengal cricketer was critically injured in a car accident on October 18.
