Party time
Hafiz Anwar ul Haq, who contested the Lok Sabha elections from the city constituency on the Rashtriya Janata Dal ticket is excited at getting an invitation from RJD supremo Lalu Prasad Yadav for his 62nd birthday bash at his residence in Patna. Haq is busy selecting the right sartorial and gift combination for the Patna bash.

Boys will be boys
In a recent function to commemmorate the World Environment Day, the UT Administration organised a function at the Kansal forest. It comprised a series of stage acts by schoolchildren. But when the UT Administrator observed that all the participants were school girls, he quipped to Ishwar Singh, Director, Forest, saying it was important that young boys too showed concern towards environment.

Health camp
Now we really appreciated the altruistic motives of a city-based animal group which sent an entry for this newspaper’s What’s on Column. The said group is organising a “free anti-rabies vaccination and deworming camp for stray dogs”. Very noble indeed. But we wonder if the multitude of stray canines on the city would read the column and dutifully present themselves for the treatment.

Poor manners
The felicity of language. It is something the office-bearers of our university lack woefully. Throwing all courtesy to the winds, M.L. Aeri, one of the fellows of the PU, at the senate meeting, dubbed Vice-Chancellor R.C. Sobti as “glorified and dignified beggar”. The V-C, however, retained his composure and replied in good humour. But men like Aeri should remember that even while showing discontent, the rules of decorum have to observed, especially when it comes to addressing the head of an educational institute.
