The Indraprastha Gas Limited (IGL) announced on Monday that it will be revising the price of CNG in Delhi to Rs 21 per kg from the current Rs 18 per kg.
The price rise will take effect from midnight, June 16.
“We had to increase the price of CNG after three years, mainly because of the increase in the overall input cost of natural gas sourced by IGL and due to the rise in operating costs. Still, only half the operating expenses are being passed on to the consumers,” said Rajesh Ved Vyas, Managing Director, IGL.
The price rise will affect the public transport. For autos, the increase would be 6 paisa per km, for taxis it would be 10 paisa per km and in case of buses, the increase would be 60 paisa per km, which translates to one paisa per passenger/km.
Even with the increased price, CNG in Delhi will still remain the cheapest in the country.
