On a high after their morale-boosting win over India in the fourth one-dayer,West Indies coach Ottis Gibson expects another impressive show from his wards in the fifth and final match of the series at Sabina Park on Thursday.
We may have lost the one-day series, but as in the last game which we won,we still want to come off the series on a high, said Gibson.
We might be struggling a bit right now,but it is a work in progress, and our intention is to continue to work hard on trying to find the right combinations as heading into the Test series we are looking to turn things around, he added.
After losing the series to a second string Indian side,West Indies would be hoping to gain some psychological edge over India before the Test series which begins on June 20.
Gibson, however, appeared miffed when asked about Chris Gayle, who was once again left out of the 13-member West Indies squad for the final one-dayer. Gayle would enhance any team but he is not here so we have to get on with it, the coach said.
While West Indiess batting looks frail in the absence of Gayle,fit-again opener Adrian Barath made his way in,replacing Kirk Edwards in the squad. Besides Barath,Ravi Rampaul also returned to the side after a brief rest to replace Danza Hyatt. Barath was undergoing rehabilitation after suffering a hamstring injury.
Harbhajan predicts 4-1
Despite the 103-run loss to West Indies in the third one-dayer,Indias vice-captain Harbhajan Singh has exuded confidence that the visitors will sign off the series on a winning note in the fifth and final ODI.
Harbhajan said a 4-1 series win is what they are eyeing. If we keep it simple and stick to the basics,we will get the right results and that would be nice so we can finish the series on a good note and take a 4-1 victory, he said.
