Pune District Collector Vikas Deshmukh has cleared the Type Plan for housing for economically weaker sections (EWS) in areas beyond the 10-km radius of corporation limits. The order issued on January 25 will benefit residents who have an annual income of less than Rs 1 lakh. "The tehsildar concerned will review the proposal and clear it after scrutiny,''said Deshmukh after clearing the type plan for the district.
The plans were readied in consultation with MHADA and the additional director of town planning.
According to the plan, housing options are to be given to persons living in these areas and it is expected to prevent haphazard construction. Deshmukh said the aim is to give them different types of house plans for various levels, 300 sq feet, 400 sq feet and 500 square feet.
The Collector, in his recommendation, has directed that the said houses be constructed on the residential zone and be not within 200 metres of a water body. He has also said that the constructions should not be within the floodline or areas marked as hill-slopes and hilltops. There should be no construction on forest land and no encroachment of designated roads in these areas.
The plan specifies rules of construction in gaothan areas and the side margins and front margins.
