  • The Valsad District Court on Friday rejected the anticipatory bail plea of Dy SP N K Amin after the latter’s counsel confirmed his moving the Gujarat High Court for the same. It is to be noted that the court of Umargam JMFC had issued arrest warrants against Amin and Inspector J K Jala in connection with the custodial death of Colonel Pratap Save in August. Amin’s lawyer, Ayaz Shaikh had filed for anticipatory bail with the Valsad court.

District Judge G K Solanki, considering the sensitivity of the case and after examining the statements recorded by a sub-divisional magistrate over the 2002 court order, rejected the bail application. “We are not satisfied with the order. We will go to the High Court and file a fresh bail application,” Shaikh said. Colonel Save’s wife had filed a petition in the HC, alleging that the policemen had beaten up her husband that caused his death in the Hinduja Hospital in Mumbai. Amin is lodged in the Sabarmati Central Jail in Ahmedabad in connection with the Sohrabuddin Shaikh fake encounter case.
