The BJP’s central leadership has reportedly told Karnataka Chief Minister BS Yeddyurappa to deal with the rebellious Reddy brothers with an iron hand.

According to sources, Janardana Reddy and Somasekhara Reddy, Bellary’s powerful mining magnates, had launched a rebellious campaign against Yeddyurappa for his alleged dictatorial style of functioning.

Both ministers are said to have wanted a free hand in the running their ministries, and had even intensified their efforts to oust Yeddyurappa by persuading a critical number of MLAs to withdraw support to him in the assembly.

In a bid to defuse the ongoing crisis, the BJP state in-charge Arun Jaitley has held talks with leaders in Bangalore on Thursday.

Jaitley has clearly said there will be no leadership change in the state.

The cabinet clash started when the CM used his administrative powers to shunt top district officials.

The Reddy brothers opposed the move and displayed their clout through a function for the construction of 55,000 houses in Bellary on Wednesday for the flood-hit from the money they and other mine owners in the state have contributed.

They went ahead with the programme ignoring Yeddyurappa's plea not make the rehab work their own, but a collective effort of the government.

Reddys are new BrahminsBy: Hero Vaz | 30-Oct-2009 Reply | Forward There was a time in Mysore/Karnataka when the Brahmins were feared and despised. Today, the Reddys have taken their place. That is what I have been told by many.
Anti BJP commentsBy: Ananth Seth | 30-Oct-2009 Reply | Forward It seems, after the electronic media, it is now the turn of print media to mutate into an thoroughly anti BJP entity. Of late, I have noticed that the comments here in Indian Express have become "invariably" anti BJP. Hmm, quite amusing. After their successful hijack of the electronic media, the hijackers are now on prowl for a takeover of the print media too.

media and BJPBy: aftab | 31-Oct-2009 Reply | Forward when media write (which they did all these years) good things about BJP, you guys did not complian. It is good that media has realised that fair reporting has to be done after a decade of pro-BJP leaninggs. You guys cannot digest any anti-BJP news. In this case they are just reporting the factual news. Why blame the media when things are in the open?

The approach is right and will pay dividends in due course of timeBy: L.C.Bilandani | 29-Oct-2009 Reply | Forward The decision of BJP leadership to deal strictly with dissidance of Reddy brothers in Karnataka is a correct approach.Indiscipine is not good nor for any political party nor for any other establishment.BJP has been acting boldly recently starting with suspension of Jaswant Singh. The harsh action of the party will weed out the dead wood and it will grow with strength.Reddy brothers cannot be given free hand in functioning of thier ministries, they have to work under the guidance of learned CM Yedyurappa. All actions of govt. reflects a collective action of the govt.Infighting only wastes govts.precious time of doing the real development work and advise of Arun Jaitley is correct to yedyurappa to deal with it firmly.Rebellion should be nipped in the bud before it starts growing.Yedyurappa will be well advised to waste no time to kick these 2 brothers out and let the development of karnataka go on,development only will bring yedyurappa back in next elections to serve people honestly.
BJP govt in KarnatakaBy: Robert | 29-Oct-2009 Reply | Forward I am resident of suburb of Bangalore. This government performs very well. Laying roads, street lighting, sewer channels etc. are being done very fast with reasonable quality. All in all, this is a working government. I travel frequently to Tamilnadu and there is a vast difference in government functioning between the 2 govts. Yediyurappa is a Good CM and he can become the best CM, though he may have some shortcomings.
