Commando unit deployed at Somnath temple

Security around the historic Somnath temple has been stepped up further with deployment of a mobile commando unit carrying Light Machine Guns,police said.

Commandos,armed with LMGs,would patrol the area round the clock in a van,working in shifts,a senior police official said.

Already,two State Reserve Police (SRP) platoons have been stationed at the temple. Besides,local police and Coast Guard too keep a vigil in the area,to ward off a possible terrorist attack.
