By scoring 93 per cent in commerce division,Bhagyashree Patwardhan of Brihan Maharashtra College of Commerce (BMCC) was not only topping at the state level,she also brought back the accolades to her college. Manasi Bhagwat,also from BMCC,came second at Pune division and third at the state level with 92.7 per cent. With an overall result of 96.7 per cent almost 80 per cent of the students in BMCC secured a first class.
In arts stream,Mrinmayee Katdare from Fergusson College scored 91.7 per cent to top the Pune division.
Planning to pursue a degree in corporate law,Patwardhan scored full marks in her favorite subject mathematics. Mathematics was fun for me since standard I. I had expected a good score,but this one was surprising. There is a lot of excitement around, said Patwardhan,who is learning tabla and is fond of puzzles.
Bhagwat,whose father is a chartered accountant,wants to follow in his footsteps. Everyone is proud of me at home and I am glad. I will be answering CPT in June. Study hours were normal and I also spent time in sports,reading and pursuing other hobbies, she said.
An elated Katdare owed her success to her teachers and parents. Although I saw the percentage online,I was informed by my teachers wife this morning and my mom cried for almost five minutes.
I will pursue a career in law and want to give UPSC exam. I also bagged a scholarship in Max Mueller Bhavan and was in Germany for almost a month at the beginning of my 12th but the constant support from my college made this possible, she said. She had retained Mathematics though she was studying in arts stream,as she liked it the most and scored 99 marks.
No boy could make it to the top ten ranks in the arts stream. Madhumitra Muthalik of Fergusson College topped in science with 93.83 per cent.
The top ten rankers were felicitated at both the colleges. The overall result of the college in arts stream is 90 per cent while it is 93 per cent in science.
