Communal clash in Bahraich,one dead

One person was killed and over a dozen others,including two policemen,were injured in communal violence.

One person was killed and over a dozen others,including two policemen,were injured in communal violence that erupted on Wednesday night and continued until Thursday noon in City Kotwali police station area of Uttar Pradesh’s Bahraich district. A police vehicle was also set ablaze in the violence.

The violence began after a cleric was attacked over the construction of a boundary wall of a religious place on Wednesday night. The victim,Sabit Ram Yadav,suffered a gunshot injury in the exchange of fire between two groups. He was rushed to the Lucknow CSMMU Trauma centre where he died on Thursday evening.

The two groups again clashed in Bashirganj and Kadipura in the morning despite heavy deployment of the Provincial Armed Constabulary and the police. They exchanged brickbats and torched two shops and a police motorcycle at Bashirganj crossing. They assaulted two policemen before the PAC dispersed the mobs.
