The number of foreign enterprises’ employees who had joined CPC increased to 2,832 last year from 51 in 1991.

A total of 109 party branches have been established in foreign businesses of the capital city,Guo Song,Party Chief of the Beijing Investment Promotion Bureau said.

It was very hard to set up a party branch in foreign owned companies because they afraid that the Party branch would affect their personnel management, he was quoted by the official China Daily as saying.

Guo said party membership for foreign businesses has entered a new era as foreign companies became more open to foreign branches.
