DPI(S) Sunil Bhatia says case will be settled in a day or two
The UT Education department and St John’s School, Sector 26, have locked horns over holding an inquiry into the complaint made by T K Goyal against art teacher Michael Angelo Francis, accusing him of showing adult websites to students in the school. Goyal’s twin sons study in the school.
After several twists and turns in the case, Goyal, a PCS officer, met senior UT officials on Wednesday with what he claims as evidence.
Education department officials, however, claim that they will take a couple of days to settle the matter.
Talking to Newsline, Sunil Bhatia DPI(S) said, “I have just joined yesterday and will take a few days to settle down. I know about the issue and Goyal did meet officials today but the matter would be decided only in a day or two”.
It was after Goyal directly approached the UT Education department with his compliant against the teacher that a notice was issued to the school for holding an inquiry into the matter.
Goyal, however, refused to join the probe citing his lack of trust in the school management. The Education department then took the charge of the investigations.
While St John’s School categorically stated its displeasure regarding the Education department holding an inquiry, the latter has decided to proceed in the matter.
The school spokesperson had said they will handle the case on their own since Goyal did not join the inquiry with evidence despite repeated reminders. The spokesperson also questioned as to why he (Goyal) was making his children study in the school if he did not trust the school management.
