The Punjab State Human Rights Commission has directed a civil surgeon at Patiala to appear in person before it regarding a complaint against a hospital for functioning without its own chemist shop. The complaint was filed by MP Rajya Sabha Avinash Rai Khanna against Mata Kaushalya Hospital in Patiala. Patients have to purchase medicines from outside shops at higher rates.

Student jumps in front of toy train, dies
Parwanoo: A 21-year-old resident of Hisar committed suicide by jumping in front of a toy train plying from Shimla to Kalka at around midnight. He was dragged for 100 to 150 metres and his body was cut into pieces. He was a student of law at Panipat. Officials state that he was depressed.

SD College students go on hunger strike
Chandigarh: Seven students have gone on a hunger strike at SD College to appeal for a decision on the cultural activities to be organized by the college. The students claim that even though a fee for cultural activities is being charged from them, no such activities are being initiated by the college authorities.
