Conductor held for selling bus passes worth Rs 1.2 lakh

A conductor with the Swargate depot of the Pune Mahanagar Parivahan Mahamandal Limited (PMPML) has been arrested by the Khadak police for duping the public transport company to the tune of Rs 1.20 lakh by selling the bus passes.

The bus conductor Sunil Maruti Taware a resident of Triveni Nagar in Phursungi has been put behind bars after a complaint was lodged by Ananda Dattatray Patekar (41) resident of Sai Vihar,Punyainagar,Dhankawadi. Taware has been booked under section 409,c riminal breach of trust by public servant.

While working as a conductor at the depot,Taware allegedly indulged in irregularities in the month of February this year. He straightaway made a business by selling off 250 bus passes meant for school children and earned Rs 1.18 lakh through that. Moreover,Taware did not submit the amount with the PMPML authorities and instead kept it with himself.

Meanwhile,in another incident,40-year-old Feroze Ali Asaf Ali Sayed was arrested by Nigdi police for trying to flee after forcefully snatching Rs 3,000 cash from Sanjay Chintaman Pandharkar (36) a resident of Pandharkar Vasti in Akurdi. As to police,on Tuesday,Pandharkar had gone to Bank of Maharashtra in Akurdi to withdraw some money for domestic reasons. He had withdrawn Rs 90,000 from the bank. While he was counting the cash by standing inside the bank,Sayed came to him saying he could help him count the cash. But when Pandharkar refused to let him do so,Sayed snatched some money from him and tried to flee from the spot. Pandharkar tried to stop him,but while doing so both of them fell down and sustained some minor injuries. The people present in the bank came forward and helped catch the thief and hand him over to the police.
