    But several party workers from the area were angry with selection of Asha Yogi for the seat. Even BJP leader Arun Jaitley was apparently not happy with the decision — Jaitley was believed to be backing R P Singh’s candidature.

    With this, the Congress’s strength in the 70-member Delhi Assembly has risen to 43. The BJP has 23, BSP two, and the Indian National Lok Dal (INLD) a solitary member.

    “Voters have posed faith on development works undertaken by the Congress government,” Goswami said after the results were announced today. “People also know my work in Patel Nagar, the constituency I represented in the last Assembly.”

    BJP's routBy: J.M.Manchanda | 16-Dec-2008 Reply | Forward Without any prejudice to Mrs. Yogi's merits, BJP needs to understand that it too has been cting like Congress. The only argument in her favor was that she might encash on the "sympathy vote". Why should the voters be sympathetic to her? Was Mr. Yogi gunned down while performing duty? In fact, it is still a mystery why he committed suicide and BJP did likewise by preferring his widow to party workers of the area. BJP also needs to focus on development and offer concrete and alternate models of growth to throw out Congress. They might start with the MCD, which is under their control and is a hotbed of corruption.
