The Congress Thursday deliberated on the vexed issue of Telengana statehood in the backdrop of the December 28 all-party meeting but the discussions were inconclusive. A second meeting is scheduled for Tuesday where the party view may be finalised, sources said.
The meeting convened by Congress chief Sonia Gandhi follows Home Minister Sushilkumar Shinde's assertion, after the all-party meeting, that a decision would be taken in a month.
Senior leaders AK Antony, Shinde, P Chidambaram, Vyalar Ravi, Digvijaya Singh, Ghulam Nabi Azad and Ahmed Patel attended the meeting, which comes a day before Congress MPs from Telangana meet in Hyderabad to decide the future course of action to pressure the Centre to take a favourable decision on the issue.
