The Congress has offered only one Lok Sabha seat to the Sharad Pawar-led Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) in Gujarat, much lower than the seven demanded by the Sharad-Pawar led party, an official source of Congress said. "We have asked NCP to select a seat either from Surat or Rajkot," a source said over the phone on Wednesday.

"It is for them to decide as the our party is in the process of selection of candidates for the remaining three Lok Sabha seats of Surat, Rajkot and Ahmedabad (west) before the declaration of notification of the election commission on Thursday for filing of nomination papers for 26 Lok Sabha seats in Gujarat where polling is to be held on April 30, the sources said.

The Congress has already declared its candidates for 23 seats out of a total of 26 seats in the state while BJP has declared candidates for 25 seats and is yet to declare its candidate for Junagadh seat.

According to NCP Gujarat unit president Jayant Patel, his party had demanded seven seats from the Congress. The demand, however, was not acceptable to Congress.
