  • The issue of grant of Rs 600 crore for the development of Junagadh, which was announced by the BJP in its poll agenda during the municipal election three months ago, has taken a political hue.

The Congress legislator from Manawadar, Jawahar Chavda, has raised the issue by circulating thousands of leaflets in Junagadh city. Chavda, while raising the issue of budgetary grant by the state government, has appealed to the people to start a postcard movement to press for its early release. He has also cast doubt on the state government’s stand over the issue of the grant.

“It seems the state government has no interest in releasing the grant. Their stand indicates that once again they have joked with the people here,” Chavda said.

The MLA further said that nothing has been heard from the state government about this, which gives enough reason to raise doubt over the issue of the grant.

Chavda said: “I am afraid that the issue of grant might be shelved. To avoid such a situation, I had appealed to the people of Junagadh to begin a postcard movement. Under it, every individual will send a postcard addressed to the state government and press for an early release of the grant.”
