The Congress party has said former external affairs minister Natwar Singh’s outburst against party chief Sonia Gandhi — for her comments that she felt betrayed by Singh in the light of the Volcker and Pathak committee reports — only confirmed his sense of guilt and that he had never been committed to the party.
Following the comments by Sonia in a television interview, the former external affairs minister hit out at the Congress president and questioned her foreign origin. “This shows that all these past years he had no ideological commitment to the party or its leadership and was only concerned with the loaves and fishes of office,” party spokesperson Abhishek Singhvi said. “He has lost his balance,” Singhvi said.
Singhvi also said the party would decide on him in its own time.
