The West Bengal Pradesh Congress today termed the first phase of panchayat polls a farce and demanded repolling in 11 booths of West Midnapore district,including Sabong,Keshpur and Garbeta. Our worst fears have come true,we have found the poll process to be a farce. Quite a number of booths were captured by the Trinamool Congress cadre with the help of the state police. They also troubled woman candidates and voters. We also saw that central forces were not used, WBPCC spokesman Abdul Mannan said today at Bidhan Bhavan,the state Congress headquarters. Mannan also said they will have a meeting with state leaders on the issue when AICC joint secretary Shaqueel Ahmed Khan reaches the state tomorrow. We will take up the issue with the state election commissioner and Governor M K Narayanan. Former WBPCC president Manas Bhuina also alleged that the ruling Trinamool Congress had unleashed a reign of terror in areas like Sobong and Garbeta. Trinamool cadres came to the queues and threatened our voters. I dont know where the Central forces had gone, Bhuina alleged.
