“To achieve this,we want peace,communal harmony with social justice so that benefits go to the downtrodden and poor. We are opposed to divisive politics and politics of hatred indulged in by the BJP and AGP,” Gogoi said.

“Our government and party is committed to provide protection to the lives and property of the common man against violence and terrorism,” he said.

“We do not believe that solution to the insurgency problem does not lie in use of force. So we appeal to all insurgent groups to shun violence and come for talks for the sake of permanent peace in the state,” Gogoi urged the underground outfits.

He,however,warned of zero tolerance towards insurgency of any form. “Our doors for negotiations are always open provided they (ultras) give up violence,surrender their arms,stay in designated camps,do not collect donations and the talks are held within the parameters of the Constitution,” he said.
