Cong rules out change of leadership in Govt

“The question is most irrelevant”,he said when asked whether the party contemplated any change of leadership particularly at a time when the country was in election mode.

To a question why External Affairs Minister Pranab Mukherjee was not made officiating Prime Minister,Moily said there cannot be two Prime Ministers,and as per the convention when the Prime Minister is abroad or away,certain functions are assigned to the senior-most minister.

“I don’t think….therefore what has been done today is not abnormal,” he said.

Expressing confidence that Singh will be back to work within two weeks after his heart surgery,Moily said the question of having a new leader does not arise. “Our confidence is that within two weeks he will be back to duty with more energy,” he said.

Moily parried questions about any reshuffle in the union council of ministers. To questions regarding seat sharing talks with Samajwadi Party for Lok Sabha polls in Uttar Pradesh,he said Congress President Sonia Gandhi was consulting senior SP leaders on the matter.

He said Gandhi was trying to sort out the issue as candidate selection process was already on. Asked if former Indian skipper Mohammad Azharuddin would be inducted in Congress,Moily said the party will take a decision on it. “It is for Congress to process his desire and take a decision,” the AICC General Secretary said.

The former cricketer met Chief Minister Y S Rajasekhara Reddy,PCC chief Srinivas and Moily in Hyderabad on Thursday amidst speculation that he was joining Congress to contest the Hyderabad Lok Sabha seat.
