Captain Singh z Will also revoke PIMS lease that smacks of Badals cronyism
Former CM and Punjab Pardesh Congress Committee (PPCC) chief Capt Amarinder Singh on Friday termed the move to convert Amritsar Khalsa College into a private Khalsa University as most unfortunate, and promised to revoke the decision once Congress comes to power in the state.
Our first decision after coming to power will be scrapping the decision to convert the college into private university, he said at a rally in Patti. The Badal family in connivance with Sukhbirs relatives is trying to grab it but our party will not allow the conversion, he said and alleged it was part of a greater plan of Badals to grab the prime land and sell it for peanuts to their favourites as they have done with Punjab Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS) in Jalandhar.
We will cancel the lease in the PIMS case too, Singh added.
Singh lashed out at SAD-BJP government saying its days are numbered and blamed Badals for thrusting the state into a state of anarchy and corruption.
Telling the people of Patti in Majha that he chose to hold the rally as the area has been ignored by Akali-BJP government,Singh added: Bring the Congress into power and we will ensure the proper development of the area as it was his government which had made Tarn Taran a district and announced various development schemes never taken up by the present government.
When asked about his recent visit to controversial Dera Sacha Sauda,he said it was not a political visit but a personal. ”I am head of the party in state which has large scale presence in the Assembly. I do meet saints and religious leaders and my meeting with Ram Rahim Singh was a routine affair.
Referring to Sukhbirs promise of making Punjab power surplus within two years,he pointed out, even after four years remains of SAD-BJP in power, the state still reels under severe power shortage. He said, instead the Badals had certainly gone surplus in their own wealth by grabbing transport, sand mining, cable business and liquor business. He said, today was the first rally of his constituency programme and in next four months all 117 Assembly constituencies will be covered by the party.
