Delhi Government's decision to increase the bus fare in the national capital has not gone down well with the city unit of the ruling Congress which on Monday demanded a review of the hike. In a veiled criticism of the Government on the issue,DPCC chief J P Aggarwal said "in some slabs the fare has been increased abnormally." "Government is making huge investment to procure new buses and modernise the transport system. But still I think it is (the fare hike) a bit more," he told reporters here. Seeking a review of the hike,he said,"I am confident that there will be a review of the decision." The Government had last week increased the bus fare across all slabs to meet the revenue shortfall of the Delhi Transport Corporation. However,Aggarwal slammed the BJP for coming to the streets to oppose the fare hike as well as rise in prices of essential commodities. "It is wrong to do politics on price rise. They just want to politicise everything," he said adding the "Delhi Government was taking the right direction to improve lives of the citizens." He claimed that to cover up its "internal fighting",the BJP was raising the issue of price rise. Asked about the possible hike of the water charges,he said the "people should not be overburdened."
