A new state unit of the Indian Youth Congress (central), the youth wing of the Congress party, will be elected by March 17, state returning officer Kunal Banerjee said in a statement on Wednesday. Announcing the schedule for the second phase of elections, Banerjee said that the nominations for the Assembly, Lok Sabha and state unit are to be filed on March 2.
The scrutiny and allocation of symbols will be done on March 3. For nominations to the state unit, a background of a win at booth level and an elected post in IYC are compulsory. After the nominations, votes will be polled for the Assembly, Lok Sabha and state unit on March 14 and 15.
Counting of votes for Assembly and Lok Sabha will be done on March 15 and results will be declared the same day.
After this, counting of votes for the state unit will be done on March 17. "We are hopeful of declaring the results the same day and uploading them on the IYC website by March 18," Banerjee said.
