After repeatedly taunting Manmohan Singh as being 'weak', BJP today used cricket language describing the Prime Minister as a ‘night watchman.’

BJP spokesman Ravishankar Prasad told reporters that Singh was like a 'night watchman' in cricket waiting for a regular batsman to take over.

"He will have to vacate once the Yuvraj Rahul Gandhi gets prepared himself for the post of PM," Prasad said.

Responding to the Prime Minister rejecting a suggestion by BJP leader L K Advani for a TV debate, Prasad claimed he was shying away as he had no concrete achievement to offer.

The Indian economy had suffered the most under Singh with price rise and unemployment problem, he said.

Describing Congress as a 'sinking ship', Prasad said the UPA-led by it had collapsed.

Prasad also said it would be the Left bloc which would come to the rescue of Congress in the post-poll scene. "It is just a shadow boxing going on between the two", he said.

On the Third Front, he wondered who its Prime Ministerial candidate was. "Mayawati is contesting against CPI(M) in West Bengal. Mayawati's party is contesting against JD(S) in Karnataka," he said.

On RJD-LJP-SP alliance, he said while Lalu Prasad said he would support Singh, Mulayam Singh had taken a different position, saying a decision will be taken after May 16.

Prisoners in derath rowBy: njayaram | 15-Apr-2009 Reply | Forward PC says that there are 28 prisoners in the death row and Afzhal Guru's rank is 22. Why not commute the sentences to life imprisonment except in case of terorists and who wage war against the country to prevent repetition of Kandahar episode?
strange comparisonBy: Ganesh | 16-Apr-2009 Reply | Forward It is indeed a strange comparison. If Afzals crime was the same as those others awaiting execution, then why was a fast track court set up to speed up his trial.?It clearly shows the communal policy of the UPA govt to show excessive morality where it is not due.Mr.PC should not take an attack against the nation so lightly.
Watchman PMBy: Hemant K Kathuria | 14-Apr-2009 Reply | Forward Even theif/summarlars needs an honest person. So what if Soniaji has kept an honest person Manmohan Singhji. She knows he is expert in finance that is the reason all the freezed bank accounts of Mr Q were defreezed and was allowed to go. She has also taken his teeth so that he could not bark but only mew (Check the voice - see it is like the masters voice)
congress a sinking ship............By: gp | 14-Apr-2009 Reply | Forward MMS is a disgrace for being called PM of India.First of all he did not get elected for LS during the last 5 years and now not standing becuase of ill health. One shock of communist deserting him on nuclear issue sent him to hospital. Then the farce of buying votes for survival and joining hands with SP and then the tamasha of SP walking out of UPA. Its either that he is not consulted and definitely does not have the last word, or he is used as a doormat by the Super boss of 10 janpath. And now he has no choic except to say that the italian boy is fit for PM. When he can convert himself into a doormat. Why not any damn fellow can be fit to be a PM because after all he has to only toe the line of what is decided in 10 janpath
P.M. is not a night watchmanBy: Haripreet Bhatia | 14-Apr-2009 Reply | Forward BJP is wrong, P.M. is not a night watchman. He is a munimji who simply signs on whatever Sonia wants him to.
PM night watchmanBy: rajan | 14-Apr-2009 Reply | Forward Dr Singh may have been well qualified and may be he would have performed better but the sad point is he was always under some pressure from his party. The aam admi feels that his ministers were not always with him and the perception is the govt is just getting along.
