The opposition Congress party has demanded that the BC Khanduri led BJP government in Uttarakhand should prove its majority on the floor of the house. The government should immediately call a special session of the house and prove its majority on the floor of the house. The prevailing scenario is a pointer to the government having gone into a minority with reports of their legislators having tendered their resignation and even the former Chief Minister Bhagat Singh Koshiyari quitting from the Rajya Sabha, said state President of the Congress Yash Pal Arya while talking to The Indian Express.
Stating that the severe infighting in the BJP has brought things to a standstill and that has led to an atmosphere of uncertainty, leader of opposition in the Uttarakhand assembly Harak Singh Rawat said,Its time that the government proves its majority. For the last two years nothing has moved in the state in terms of development.
He further stated, The regular infighting and groupism within the party has led top confusion amongst the masses that are unable to understand what is happening in the state.
The resignation of Khanduris bete noire Koshiyari from Rajya Sabha coupled with unconfirmed reports of some legislators having tendered their resignations has led to the Congress air the demand for a floor test. Last week the state President of the party Yash Pal Arya had said that the BJP is a ship that would sink by it self. Referring to the BJP he had said, It is no longer the Bharatiya Janata Party. Instead it is now Bharatiya Jhagralu Party.
