UPA has majority, can face no-trust: Cong

New Delhi: Reacting to Trinamool Congress chief Mamata Banerjee's threat to bring a no-confidence motion in the Lok Sabha, the Congress on Saturday said that the UPA has the majority to face any such motion even as it maintained that the TMC would not be able to bring it without joining hands with the "communal forces".

"The Congress is ready to face a no confidence motion. We have the majority. Every party is within its right to bring any motion under Parliamentary rules. If Banerjee wants to bring in a no confidence motion, we have nothing to say. But at least 50 MPs are required to bring such a motion. It is a different matter if somebody brings it by joining hands with communal forces," Congress spokesman Rashid Alvi told reporters here.
