Reacting to the BJPs criticism of the draft legislation to prevent communal violence, the Congress on Friday accused the Opposition party of trying to further its communal agenda through a pre-emptive strike.

Senior BJP leader Arun Jaitley had on Thursday lambasted the draft Prevention of Communal and Targeted Violence (Access to Justice and Reparation) Bill,2011,stating that it sought to intrude into the domain of states and damage inter-community relations as it made only majority community culpable.

We are shocked at the BJPs reaction. Firstly, nothing has been finalised. Opinions are being sought from diverse sections. The BJP is trying to further its communal agenda. It is trying to do so by pre-emptive strike and debunking a draft Bill under discussion, Congress spokesman Abhishek Manu Singhvi told reporters here.

The country knows which political party has communal agenda from its birth, continues to be bound by umbilical chord of the RSS and carries the shame of Gujarat,Karnataka and Babri with ease…. It is going to be naturally worried, thats why the pre-emptive strike, said the Congress spokesman.
