Almost a month after cooling his heels in jail, Bollywood actor Shiney Ahuja on Friday said he had consensual sex with his domestic help. Ahuja, who has been accused of raping his help, told the court for the first time that he had consensual sex with her after she allegedly responded favourably to his advances.
A bail application filed by the actor last week had said he belonged to a ‘respectable’ family and had been wrongly implicated in the case. However, the prosecution has taken a strong stand against him in a reply, claiming that a respectable family did not reflect itself in Ahuja’s character.
In the reply, Special Public Prosecutor R V Kini contended that Ahuja could “tamper with the evidence against him”, and might try every possible means to influence the victim and witnesses whose statements have not been recorded so far before the magistrate. The prosecution also claimed that he could try to jump bail if released.
In his bail application, Ahuja had claimed that there was a serious conspiracy hatched against him, and that the help along with some other people wanted to extort money from him.
The prosecution has also cited the DNA and other forensic reports, stating that all the evidence went against Ahuja as it established that he had forced sex with his maid. The five-page reply also mentioned that the prosecution would expedite the proceeding as the state had asked for the case to be sent to a fast-track court. The bail plea will now be heard on July 7.
