Constable abducted in West Midnapore

Nearly four months after the abduction of an IB officer and a schoolteacher,Maoists have abducted a constable of state armed police from West Midnapore.

Nearly four months after the abduction of an IB officer and a schoolteacher,Maoists have abducted a constable of state armed police late on Thursday night from West Midnapore.

According to senior police officers,Sarkar Hembram,a constable posted in Purulia state armed police camp,married the daughter of Thelaram Hembram,a resident of Maoli village at Beliabera police station area,on February 24.

On Thursday,he and his wife visited his in-law’s house. Late at night,a group of seven Maoists raided Thelaram’s house.

“The group introduced themselves as members of the PCAPA and dragged them out of the house,” an officer said. However,after a few hours they left Thelaram but Sarkar was not released. Thelaram is said to have told by the Maoists that Sarkar would return today morning.
