Constable shoots woman colleague in Hyderabad

A constable on Monday allegedly shot his woman colleague before shooting himself at Kukatpally police station in Cyberabad Commissionerate area near here,police said in Hyderabad.

Police Constable Srinivas,who was on guard duty,fired at Lalitha,a colleague,with his service rifle when the latter was sleeping in the rest room post duty-hours. He then shot at himself,ACP Babu said.

Preliminary investigations have revealed that it was a fall-out of the woman’s refusal to marry the accused. Srinivas had shot Lalitha because she had refused to marry him,Assistant Commissioner of Police T Sarath Babu said.

Both have been admitted to a corporate hospital in a critical condition,said Babu.

Both Srinivas and Lalitha joined the police department in 2009.
