Members of the National Consumer Awareness Group (NCAG) have submitted a memorandum to UT Adviser Pradip Mehra stating that the UT Electricity Department has not displayed the procedures and rules for various types of services on its notice board as well as at the Department website.
The memorandum says that the NGO had submitted a request in July this year, seeking display of the check list on the Electricity Department notice board. Four months have passed but no action has been taken,it points out.
The NGO has expressed concern that in the absence of the display, malpractices cannot be ruled out at the Department . The NGO has requested that the pre-requisite formalities and fees for various types of work applied for by the applicants to the Electricity Department should to be provided.
In the absence of such lists, consumers are being harassed and the chances of getting work done through middle men cannot be ruled out.
