As per the police, Jasvir Singh was riding a Bullet motorcycle, bearing number plate of PB 23 C 8106. He was stopped and searched at a naka put up by the CIA staff, who found a polythene bag hanging on the handle of the motorcycle. Inside this polythene bag was a leather bag in which 735 gm of brown sugar was found packed.
Tehal Singh said, “After seeking remand from the court we have questioned Jasvir Singh. Till now he has told us that he brought this brown sugar from Jammu and was asked to deliver it here in Jagraon. He had not seen or met the people to whom this delivery was to be made and just has a phone number. We are tracing the number.”
The leather bag caught by police has a stamp of Kabul 999 on it which, as per Tehal Singh, “shows that these narcotics are coming through Afghanistan. A similar kind of haul was made in Tran Taran a fortnight ago and there too the bag in which the narcotics were packed bore a stamp from Kabul. Thus the route seems to be the same.”
