A convict in a Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act procured bail from a district court here after allegedly furnishing fake and forged documents. After the documents were found to be forged during verification,a police complaint was lodged from the court of the Additional District Judge (ADJ) SK Garg. Acting on the complaint,the local police have booked Santokh Singh of Ropar along with village nambardar Harwinder Singh and Jaswinder Singh of Railo Kalan village in Ropar,who allegedly stood surety and witness for the release of the convict on bail,the police said here today. According to the complaint,the convict was granted bail from the ADJs court from January 11 to 17 and the copies of land records submitted to secure his release were found to be fake and forged during the verification. A case under Sections 420 (cheating),465,467,468,471 (forgery) and 120-B (criminal conspiracy) of the IPC was registered against the three accused at the Mataur police station here. The convict was undergoing jail term in a NDPS case registered against him at Dera Bassi police station in 2009,the police said. Mataur SHO Atul Soni said the accused were yet to be arrested as the investigations in the case was still on.
