Buoyed by a firming trend overseas and a pick-up in spot demand,copper futures prices today rose by 0.15 per cent to Rs 431.35 per kg.
At the Multi Commodity Exchange,copper for delivery in April rose by 65 paise,or 0.15 per cent,to Rs 431.35 per kg,with a turnover of 1,027 lots.
In a similar fashion,the metal for delivery in far-month June was up by 60 paise,or 0.14 per cent,at Rs 436.35 per kg,with a trade volume of 62 lots.
Globally,copper for three-month delivery rose by 0.20 per cent to USD 8,363.25 a tonne on the London Metal Exchange. Market analysts attributed the rise in copper futures trade to a firming trend at the London Metal Exchange on speculation that yesterday’s slump may revive demand in China,the world’s biggest consumer.
