Cops hunt down kidnappers,free minor girl the same day

According to Sola police,Dhruva left her house at 6.30 am when four men came in a car and stopped the school van she was travelling in. They pointed a gun at van driver Alkesh and took away the girl.

Satish Sharma,Joint Commissioner of Police (Zone I),said,“We formed several teams of city police and Ahmedabad Crime Branch to trace the girl. The kidnappers were found near Petlad in a Scorpio. We rescued the girl from the car and seized a bag containing cash.”

Investigating Officer,Inspector K D Bhatt,however,said the kidnappers did not ask for ransom. He said,“The kidnapper had come in a Maruti Esteem car GJ 1 HH 1036. When the van went to pick up another student living in Devarshi Bungalows near Cambay Hotel,they kidnapped the girl from there. The driver called up Dhruva’s father and informed him. So far,the family has received no calls for ransom.”

Sources,however,said the kidnappers had asked for over Rs 50 lakh as ransom. Police tracked the mobile number the kidnappers were calling from and found their location at Petlad. The local police of Anand was alerted. The kidnappers had also threatened Patel that they would kill Dhruva if the ransom doesn’t reach them.

According to sources,Patel arranged for the money and the kidnappers freed the victim after getting the ransom. Patel later passed the Scorpio’s number to police,which chased down the car. The car is under the custody of the Anand Police.
